Bucktown properties are rapidly rising in value. While in the past prices of Bucktown properties may have been suitable for starving artists, today’s prices target those with a more solid grasp of their finances. Despite rising property values, Bucktown properties (2-bedroom and 3-bedroom condos and single-family homes in particular) remain more affordable than neighboring Lincoln Park. In 2007 the median sales price one-bedroom condos was around $185,000; two bedrooms at $285,000; and three or more bedrooms at $515,000. Bucktown loft properties start at $280,000, while townhomes are priced closer to $380,000 and up. For a single-family home in Bucktown saw a median sales price of $852,500. Because of the relative affordability of Bucktown properties, most real estate here tends to spend less time on the market than comparable properties in the neighborhood of Lincoln Park.

Ultra Urban Hotspot

Attracting a new generation of urban dwellers to the neighborhood, the Bucktown, Chicago real estate area is known for its highly eclectic cultural atmosphere, bohemian-like retail shopping district, and a fabulous array of dining establishments and night clubs. Bucktown’s many night clubs, swanky bars, and funky shops and restaurants can be found on nearly every corner of the triangle intersection of Milwaukee and Damen Avenue.

Founded in the middle of the 19th century, Logan Square, even with all its grandeur, is known for being one of Chicago’s most affordable places to live on the North side. Average home prices for a one bedroom were $223,000; two bedrooms at $306,000; and three bedrooms or more sell for around $402,432. Individual prices for townhomes start at $315,000, and single family homes averaged $677,500.

Further enhancing the popularity of Bucktown, Chicago real estate are the surrounding area’s 100-plus restaurants, cafes, bakeries and bistros. Every August, thousands of local residents and visitors attend the Taste of Logan Square to sample eclectic cuisine.
